The current Democratic Party platform is focused on "redemption". Making life better for criminals after they served their time, if they serve any at all, rather than on protecting the public from criminals and making certain crime vicitms have justice. It actually states in the section on criminal justice, "we believe in redemption". That's all lovely and airy fairy, but doesn't help the boy this man took, or future victims of this man.
Also in the platform- "Democrats will support measures to improve training and education for judges, corrections officers, prosecutors, public defenders, and police officers to ensure transgender and gender non-conforming people receive fair and equitable treatment in the criminal justice system". At this point, I think most of us know that could just be condensed to, 'trans, the get out of jail free card'.
